Overview

During my 10-week internship at Ansys, I focused on enhancing business productivity and process efficiency by leveraging Generative AI. As a UX Researcher, I applied my UX design skills to improve documentation usability, developing innovative research methods to identify AI use cases, and expanding my technical expertise with Generative AI tools.

Key Projects & Contributions

Due to the NDA nature of my work, I am unable to share specific project details and research outcomes. However, my contributions spanned the following:

  • Project 1: Technology Documentation Review

    • Learning: Gained insights into technical documentation best practices through guidance from consulting experts and technical architects.

    • Contribution: Reviewed and refined documentation flow, organization, and interactivity to enhance usability. Suggested refinements clarified relationships between systems, reduced interpretation time, and facilitated intuitive navigation for technical users.

  • Project 2: AI-Driven Workflow Development

    • Learning: Gained hands-on experience with tools and platforms for building AI-powered solutions.

    • Contribution: Designed and implemented workflows to improve operational efficiency, including an automated communication tool and a process optimization solution, leveraging AI-based platforms.

  • Project 3: Research Methods Design for AI Use Case Identification

    • Learning: Conducted research on the company's AI culture, ethics, and applications to design user-centered research methods.

    • Contribution: Designed user research approaches, such as diary studies, interviews, and co-design workshops, to identify challenges and opportunities for technology-driven improvements.

Takeaways

I am grateful for this internship experience, and for the opportunity to leverage GenAI as applied to UX research and design skills to enhance business processes in a real-world context. I was able to gain a deeper understanding of technical documentation, develop user-centered research methods, and hone my ability to collaborate across functional teams. This experience reinforced both my technical and problem-solving abilities as well as my passion for designing innovative and impactful solutions in the field of user experience.
